Silo: The Deleted Still Speak
by Erin_Yeg
There are one hundred forty-four levels in the silo and no record of who dug them. Somebody down here can read the records that were deleted. The Revenant Archive opens the Drowned Stacks — files Judicial burned, names scraped out of the silo’s own memory. It never makes Cole strong. It makes him informed, in a place where knowing the wrong thing gets a person sent outside to clean. Retrieval spends Lucidity and leaves an afterfog anyone watching closely can see. Down Deep, Walker takes him on because he notices machines correctly. Up top, Bernard notices him back, politely, over a warm drink. Every use raises Heat, and Heat climbs fast and falls slowly. There is a second line on the panel the Archive will not explain. It is not counting him. It is counting the silo. — Description from novelcodex.org
