Special District 9

Qin Yu has survived the lawless wastelands. Now he wants something harder to come by: a steady job, a roof over his head, and a future. In a world crippled by catastrophe, even summer brings snow. Food is scarce, medicine costs a fortune, and the right to live inside a functioning city comes at a price. Qin Yu pays his way into Songjiang’s police force, hoping a badge will finally buy him some security. Instead, it puts him in the middle of a different kind of battlefield. His colleagues have their own rackets. Promotions depend as much on connections as on courage. A kidnapping case brings him recognition—and enemies he does not yet know he has. Then an assignment to crack down on illicit medicine sends him into a neighborhood where the people selling it command more loyalty than the law. With Qi Lin and Old Cat at his side, Qin Yu must learn who can be trusted, when to swallow an insult, and when backing down will cost him everything. He knows how to survive a gunfight. Surviving the men who profit from one will take more than a steady hand. He came to Special District 9 looking for a place to live. Keeping it will mean fighting for a place of his own. — Description from novelcodex.orgFull novel: Special District 9 — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org
