The Minister’s Secret Woman.

Synopsis: That was the first time Xu Yu met Nie Huiming. Amid a sky filled with wind and snow, he came toward her beneath an umbrella. He removed his cloak and draped it over her shoulders, which were already covered in cold snow. With that one glance, she understood that this lord looked at her differently. But she understood even more clearly that, if not for sheer coincidence, a man of such power and rank would never have had anything to do with her, much less marry a lowly country girl like herself. Everything that had happened in Cangzhou was nothing more than a fleeting dream—beautiful, but ultimately empty. On the day Nie Huiming left Cangzhou, she cried her eyes out. Then she sold everything he had given her and, that very night, took her entire family and left. The money was enough to see her whole family through the rest of their lives. They could start over. — Nie Huiming was an upright and proper man, courteous, gentle, and modest. Yet when it came to matters of action, he never allowed anyone room to question him. In all his years as an official, he had never made the slightest mistake. Except when it came to that girl in Cangzhou. On the first day after leaving Cangzhou, Nie Huiming thought of his little taro. The weather was turning cold. The chilblains on her hands were so deep, so severe—when they flared up, the pain was unbearable. On the second day after leaving Cangzhou, Nie Huiming missed his little taro even more. She couldn’t bear to burn good charcoal. Would she end up choking on the smoke? After an unknown number of days away from Cangzhou, Nie Huiming could no longer sit still. His little taro was always so prone to tears. What if she waited and waited for him to return, cried herself blind, and ruined her eyes? The moment his official business was finished, he immediately spurred his horse into a furious gallop back to Cangzhou. He was going to bring her with him to the capital. Where was his little taro? — Description from novelcodex.orgFull novel: The Minister’s Secret Woman. — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org
