The Sickly Little Darling Was Deceived by the Demon Lord

Synopsis: At an Immortal Alliance gathering, the Qiongtang Mountain Sect unexpectedly finds the long-lost posthumous son of its former sect leader. The baby who once wailed helplessly in his swaddling clothes has grown into a young man. He has even become engaged to a mortal, and the two live like a young married couple, supporting one another through life. Wu Zhao has been raised by this mortal to be timid and frail. He has never so much as touched a kitchen fire. Even so, the entire sect is beside itself with joy, and they proudly announce the happy news to the Three Realms. The wedding banquet lasts seven days and seven nights. From the sect leader down to the youngest Fifth Junior Brother, everyone in the Qiongtang Mountain Sect wears a smile. Unfortunately, the good times do not last. Once the happy occasion is over, trouble arrives. It starts when Fifth Junior Brother, who has gone down the mountain to buy pastries, comes stumbling through the gates shouting, “This is terrible! I heard that the great demon lord who slaughtered three cities and refined more than a thousand people several years ago has come to our region! What does that demon lord want?!” At the time, Wu Zhao’s husband has just finished making the bed for him. He lifts Wu Zhao from the couch, and Wu Zhao gives a little nuzzle against his husband’s chest, paying the commotion no mind. Even if the sky were to fall, Master would hold it up. And if the worst came to pass, he still had his husband. So what if there was a demon lord? Later, the Qiongtang Mountain Sect receives pleas for help from the nearby mortals. They claim that several unidentified corpses have recently been found, and fear that the demon lord is responsible. As the Three Realms hold an emergency meeting late into the night, preparing to join forces and hunt down the demon lord, Wu Zhao is perched over his husband’s shoulder, poking his head out like a curious little cat. “I’ve got a few tiny red spots on my back. Do you think it’s because of the clothes?” “I just realized the color of these clothes is so ugly.” “And the pattern isn’t very nice either…” His husband says nothing from beginning to end. After warming the limited-edition pastries he bought early that morning—only a few hundred are made each day—he takes Wu Zhao by the hand and leads him back to their room. He lights the lamp, takes out a fresh bolt of cloth, sits down in a chair, and begins cutting. Wu Zhao leans against his husband’s back as he eats his pastries. He thinks to himself: Having a husband is wonderful. Having a husband is wonderful. Really? Wu Zhao, who has gotten up in the middle of the night to go to the kitchen, stands dumbfounded as he watches his mortal husband crush a man’s heart with his bare hand in the courtyard. There is only one thought in his mind. “…” Wonderful, my ass! He only wanted a midnight snack. How on earth did he end up seeing this?! Raised to be so helpless that he can barely lift a finger around the house, Wu Zhao is so frightened that five of his seven souls nearly leave his body. He hurriedly runs off with his hair hanging loose, staggering from one passerby to the next and telling everyone what he has just seen. In the end, Second Senior Sister looks at him with nothing but affection. “Little Junior Brother, what nonsense are you talking about?” His First Senior Brother doesn’t even hear the whole story before drawing his sword and rushing away. “Things have been unsettled lately. Hurry back to your room and find Bo Jun. Senior Brother has important business to attend to.” Wu Zhao talks until his mouth goes dry, but in the entire enormous Qiongtang Mountain Sect, there isn’t a single person who believes him. Deep into the night, Wu Zhao returns to his room in a daze. His husband, who has obviously just returned himself, comes to meet him and gently brushes the dust from his legs. As he does so, Wu Zhao lowers his eyes. And catches sight of a drop of blood that his husband failed to wipe completely from the back of his hand. Tears well up in his eyes. I already told you the demon lord you’re all looking for is my husband. Why won’t any of you believe me?! — Description from novelcodex.org
