The Special Crisis Bureau Insists I Reconcile With My Ex

by 春风无邪

Liang Lie was an ordinary prisoner who had quietly dated a doctor as his boyfriend. His boyfriend was a naturally gifted surgeon, gentle and elegant, with a refined temperament. He was considerate, patient, and treated Liang Lie exceptionally well. However, he was too gentle and reserved. He never seemed to love Liang Lie passionately enough, and Liang Lie eventually grew tired of it. He wanted to break up. Even though Liang Lie had been the one to initiate their relationship, he was also the one who had been mocked and ridiculed for it. Although he knew that a man could hardly be expected to change his mind about someone in just a month or two, he had nevertheless endured the relationship for four long years, quietly allowing time to pass like water flowing beneath a bridge. Eventually, when his patience finally ran out, Liang Lie could no longer bear it. His boyfriend, meanwhile, had the audacity to blame him for failing to fulfill his duties in bed, even going so far as to act as though he were the victim. After all the arguments and disputes had finally settled down, the two of them eventually broke up. His boyfriend remained as gentle and reserved as ever, then simply walked away from his life after offering a few words of consolation. However, on the very day after their breakup, Liang Lie began experiencing a series of bizarre events that defied all explanation. For example, a suspect being arrested would suddenly disappear right in front of him. A colleague who had merely hugged him would immediately collapse into a frenzy. Even a stranger he had never met before would suddenly approach him with a desperate, almost pleading voice and ask, “Why don’t you love me?” Before long, Liang Lie began feeling as though there were enormous, invisible monsters lurking in the shadows around him. They watched him, entangled themselves with him, and seemed determined to possess him. On the second day, his body became covered in strange, abnormal traces. Completely bewildered by what was happening to the world, Liang Lie was on the verge of a breakdown when people claiming to represent the National Special Crisis Response Administration approached him. “Please reconcile with your ex-boyfriend immediately. The safety of all humanity depends on your relationship.” Liang Lie: “…For God’s sake, say that one more time. I didn’t hear you clearly!” The National Special Crisis Response Administration had been monitoring an extremely dangerous anomaly for a long time. It had remained stable, even relatively mild, for years. But one day, it suddenly began to emerge from its dormant state, whispering continuously and causing people to lose their minds. It drove human beings to commit increasingly extreme acts while spreading its influence throughout the world. The highest-ranking investigator had risked his life to gather information and finally managed to uncover the terrifying truth. Liang Lie, are you in love? Why did you break up? Don’t you love him anymore? Why won’t you get back together? Why don’t you love him? Tags: The ex-boyfriend is not quite human; the protagonist is a cold, rational man who gets dragged into supernatural chaos; an obsessive monster attacks; the monster is very much in love. Additional notes: * The protagonist has a strong, capable personality. He is not the sort of character who can be easily manipulated. * The relationship is not a typical sweet romance. The protagonist has no interest in getting back together with his ex, but the supernatural events make the situation increasingly absurd. * This is a fictional world. Do not apply real-world logic to every event. — Description from novelcodex.org
