Synopsis: Zhao Lijia has never gotten along with one particular person. That person is her third cousin, the pride of heaven himself—Lin Zeyan. Zhao Lijia has no idea what she ever did to offend him. Lin Zeyan resents her, dislikes her, and looks down his nose at her. And his tongue is so vicious that it frightens her even more. But one day, Lin Zeyan is gravely wounded and falls into an unconscious state. Amid the sobbing that fills the room, Lin Zeyan slowly opens his eyes, looking dazed. His gaze travels around the room until he spots Zhao Lijia hiding at the very back. With difficulty, he struggles upright. Then, under everyone’s astonished gaze, he reaches out to the one person least likely to receive such a gesture. “Zhao Lijia, come here.” Zhao Lijia freezes as though struck by lightning. In disbelief, she points at herself. “Me?” Lin Zeyan grows impatient. When Zhao Lijia finally approaches at a painfully slow pace, he takes her hand with an urgency born of having found something he thought he’d lost forever. Then he looks left and right before turning to his mother, the Second Madam. “Where’s Yan’er?” The Second Madam and Zhao Lijia exchange bewildered looks. “Who is Yan’er?” Lin Zeyan understands at once. With a reproachful edge to his voice, he turns to Zhao Lijia. “I nearly died this time, and you’re still planning to take Yan’er back to your mother’s family? Our child almost grew up without a father. Don’t you have a conscience?” Zhao Lijia’s face burns red with fury. “Don’t talk nonsense!” She is only sixteen. She isn’t even married yet. Where would she have a child from? And certainly not a child with Lin Zeyan! Afterward, Lin Zeyan’s “madness” only grows worse. He genuinely begins treating her as his wife, while the Second Madam deliberately tries to arrange a marriage between them. But Lin Zeyan is an awful man. There’s no way she is going to marry him! Yet that very night, she dreams of a letter. At the end of it are the words: “The northwest is too far from the capital. Far, far too far. If there is a next life… “The truth is, I really miss you…” The blood splattered across the letter sends a chill through her. After Cheng Xihuan transmigrates into the novel, she throws herself into caring dutifully for her sickly husband, determined to avoid the tragic fate he suffers in the original story. At the same time, she happily ships her favorite original-story character, Zhao Lijia, with her own husband’s younger brother. The three brothers of the Lin family’s second branch are each remarkable in his own way. The eldest is upright and refined. The second is gentle and warm. And the third—well, the third, Lin Zeyan, has looks. He has looks for his character, looks for his manners, looks for his upbringing… Basically, he has looks for everything. But every time Zhao Lijia and her husband’s younger brother, Lin Zeyan, appear together, Cheng Xihuan screams internally: They’re perfect together! Get together! Have a hundred babies!!! Of course, she also knows it’s impossible. In the original novel, Zhao Lijia marries someone else. As for her husband’s younger brother, his tongue is simply too poisonous. He remains single for life and eventually becomes a legendary figure. What Cheng Xihuan never expected was for her brother-in-law to wake up after being injured and utter a single word: “Yan’er.” It hits her like a bolt of lightning. Marriage? Running away from home with a child? Why does this plot sound so familiar? Because this is none other than the fanfiction she herself painstakingly wrote about the two of them, down to every carefully chosen word! — Description from novelcodex.org
