Family Background

This novel mainly tells the story of two educated youths, Zhen Xinmin from a poor and lower-middle peasant family and Wei Wuxin from a landlord family, who receive different treatment in society due to their different family backgrounds during the era when family background was emphasized. Although Zhen Xinmin and Wei Wuxin come from different family backgrounds, they both grew up in traditional Chinese families that value honesty, diligence, and kindness. They share common ideals and values, and eventually come together under special social circumstances to form a new generation of families in the Republic.
