Yes, Prime Minister
by 唯心主义德赛
In 1911, under the glory of the Meiji Empire, currents seethed beneath the surface. Ijūin Masasuke, a genius bureaucrat from Tokyo Imperial University, entered the heart of power with a dream of reform and national salvation. But he quickly learned the empire's only rule: ideals are ideals, interests are interests. The elders, nobility, financial cliques, and military firmly controlled the state, using peasants' land, workers' flesh, and colonial resources as fuel for the empire's rise. He wanted to protect the people, promote good laws, and curb the military, but each time reality shattered his efforts: labor bills were strangled by the financial cliques, land-grabbing tragedies were suppressed by the upper class, and the moment he thought to restrain the military, a gun was already at his back. From a minor bureaucrat in the Home Ministry to the position of Prime Minister, Ijūin's ascent was paved with compromise, betrayal, and the price of conscience. He learned to write suppression as pacification, to whitewash plunder as national policy, and to bow to the true masters at the banquet of power: 'Yes, my lord.' This was a path of dancing with the devil. When he finally stood at the top, with the power to change everything, the man in the mirror had long become the very figure he once despised.
