During the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty, the emperor was a teenage ruler, and the prime minister was also a young man, together governing the Ming court. Man Chaojian organized a child army, which became a highly effective fighting force. The Ming child army independently suppressed the Liang Yong rebellion, then participated as part of the imperial army in quelling the Yang Yinglong rebellion in Bozhou and the Ninhai rebellion in Ningxia. Finally, they joined the campaign to aid Korea against Japan. The young emperor personally led expeditions multiple times, while the young prime minister Man Chaojian devised strategies, achieving a series of great victories.
