Seventeen years after Asia's largest paper mill went bankrupt, it has been transformed into an immersive puzzle park. Li Junyi, a former factory kid down on his luck, applies for a job as an NPC there. On his first day, the boss Zhao Jinbiao suddenly pins him to the ground and announces, "Li Baowen's grandson died ten years ago—you're a fake!" As he is being humiliated, an old NPC who collects trash emerges from the fog and calls out his childhood name, "Yiyi, he is my real grandson." Li Junyi is shocked to discover that this NPC's mannerisms are identical to those of his deceased grandfather, Li Baowen. Grandpa was a top-notch fitter at the factory who died falling down a chimney. Now his consciousness seems to have been uploaded into the system. And Zhao Jinbiao was Grandpa's apprentice back then. While dodging pursuit and using the "rustic skills" Grandpa taught him to overpower high-tech devices, Li Junyi gradually approaches the truth amid the ruins: the factory didn't go bankrupt—it was gutted. Grandpa's death wasn't an accident—he was pushed. When all evidence points to the same person, Li Junyi grips the wrench Grandpa left behind— "Red Shore never dies. The debts must be repaid."
