Bent Bayonets
by 烟雨钓沧海
Based on extensive research and millions of words of historical materials, this work uses traditional literary techniques to record the true Long March from the perspective of grassroots commanders and fighters. Starting from October 16, 1934, it spans five volumes—'Departure,' 'Breakthrough,' 'Mobile Warfare,' 'The Difficulty of Shu,' and 'Home'—covering a million words, presenting the Long March of ordinary people to commemorate that tragic and magnificent history. The work rejects mythologizing and empty exaggeration, employing pure plain description to depict grassroots commanders and fighters such as battalion commander Chen Qing, political instructor A Jin, company commander Zhang Youcai, staff officer Meng Xiuwen, and messenger Luo Zi, while also narrating the demeanor of leaders at various levels with rigorous historical facts.
