Midnight Life Borrower

In Qinghuai Town, the Shen family's paper effigy shop only opens at midnight. On the night of his grandfather's death, Shen Yan returns to the village for the vigil, only to be visited by a woman without a shadow, who says her husband borrowed seven days of life and must return it before dawn. Forced to open the ancestral "Life Borrowing Ledger," Shen Yan discovers that people truly borrow life from the dead, paper effigies, village temples, and wandering souls to extend their years, and all borrowed lives must be repaid. More terrifyingly, the first page of the ledger bears his birth date and time: half a life not yet returned.
