In the third year of Jinghe of the Great Yong dynasty, old injustices resurface. Shen Yu, a humble clerk from a disgraced family who once served in the Ministry of Justice, is exiled to remote Cangyun County as a local constable. Initially suspicious of each other, they are forced to solve unit mysteries. Behind each folk murder lie interests of local gentry, corrupt officials, and capital forces. Clues gradually connect, revealing a network of local corruption that leads back to the imperial court. As they solve cases, they secretly gather evidence for Shen's family injustice, fighting against collusion among officials. The unit cases are independent yet linked to the main plot, with layers of twists, exposing the dark past where the powerful fabricate charges and disregard lives. Shen Yu clears his family's name, upholds the law, and as a low-level clerk, shakes the entrenched court abuses.
