Floor 34
by 大呆呆啊啊
Zhou Chen, an ordinary office worker, takes the company elevator late one night and finds he can never go back. A yellowed rule notice on the elevator wall lists absurd prohibitions: don't press non-existent floor buttons, stay silent when the passenger count is off, close your eyes and count to thirty when you smell rust. These bizarre rules become his only lifeline in this world. Jinyuan Building has more than thirty-three floors. Below are endless dark levels; above dwell entities that must not be looked upon. Other 'passengers' in the elevator always keep their heads down. They ask for the time, chime from behind you, and smile when you miscount. Every time you think you've escaped, a little girl in a red dress waits at the end of the corridor. The more rules, the more loopholes. Zhou Chen slowly discovers that every rule on the wall is missing half a sentence. Altered floor numbers, recurring passenger IDs, extra reflections in the mirror—this world tells him with cruel precision: You are not an intruder. You belong here. You just forgot. And when you finally remember, you'll understand why Rule 7 is forever incomplete. Because that rule... is about you.
