Infinite Weirdness Descends

Fifteen years after the apocalypse. The rift in the sky remains unclosed, pouring spiritual energy into the world day and night. Once people cultivate, their souls are devoured by 'weirdness'—skin melts, shadows become independent, and walking corpses abound. Ordinary people survive in the cracks, relying on crude methods like watching shadows, checking fingernails, and lighting human candles. Lin Fei, a fifteen-year-old orphan, lives in remote Old Locust Village. The village is isolated, full of farmers and hunters, unremarkable. Until that stormy night, four lodgers knock on his door. They have shadows, body heat, and speak coherently. The village chief has checked them all—normal. But after the thunder in the first half of the night, the four disappear into the rain with synchronized footsteps; in the second half, they return one by one—an old man with only left footprints, a man panting as if his lungs are rotten, a woman with hair grown half a foot longer, and a mute covered in blood. All are five meters away, and the human candle in Lin Fei's hand is burning three times faster. After that night, Lin Fei begins cultivation and ventures into the world beyond the village. The outside world is darker than the night.
