Ghost Hunter of Xiangxi
by 逗司令
My name is Chen Shouyi, born in Qingshi Village, Xiangxi. My grandfather was the only yin-yang master in the village. For generations, the Chen family made a living catching ghosts. Drawing talismans, suppressing evil, collecting souls, and performing rites—these skills were passed down from generation to generation. By my grandfather's time, it was the seventeenth generation. The villagers respected him but also feared him, because people in this line of work always carry something unspeakable. When I was twelve, my grandfather told me that the grave behind our house didn't hold a person. It held an evil entity that had been suppressed for centuries. My father died at its hands, my mother disappeared, and her coffin was empty. Grandfather said it was time to settle the score. Then he went into the mountains alone, leaving me a book of talismans and an ancestral pair of scissors. He didn't plan to come back alive. But I couldn't let him go alone. I took the scissors and entered the mountains. In the mountains, there was a woman in red singing, an empty coffin, a jade pendant my father left behind, and something that had been waiting for me for centuries. I am the eighteenth-generation heir of the Chen family. Tonight, I have to bring my grandfather back and settle my family's debts, one by one.
