Journey to the West Negotiator
by 橙子味可乐
Tang Zang, known on the streets as "Mr. Tang," never lost at the negotiation table. When he wakes up, he becomes Tang Seng—the tenth one. The previous nine all died on the journey to the West. Lingshan arranged this path, walked for over a thousand years, and every pilgrim was clearly arranged: the route was drawn, the tribulations were written, even the manner of death was predetermined. Tang Zang refuses. He squats under the Five Elements Mountain and negotiates a labor contract with Sun Wukong: "Base salary three thousand, five insurances and one housing fund, deal?" In Gao Village, he finds the Lingshan employee badge of Zhu Bajie's wife: "You have someone above you? Tell her to come see me." At the Flowing Sands River, he collects nine skulls—the skulls of the previous nine pilgrims, each containing a page of accounts that Lingshan cannot find. When Guanyin comes to deliver the golden headband, he pulls out a leather account book: "Bodhisattva, please check these accounts first." Tathagata waits for him at Lingshan, waiting for a thousand years. Tang Zang walks on the road, overturning one thing after another with each step. He says: This road to the Western Heaven has been walked for a thousand years. It's time to end. — Description from novelcodex.org
