Gunshots on the Snowfield
by ZYNR
In 1931, the Mukden Incident broke out and the Northeast fell. Jin Guoxiang, a farmer from Nehe, put down his sickle, picked up his short sword, and walked into the vast forests and snowfields. Fourteen years of desperate fighting: he and his comrades ate grass roots and tree bark, camped in ice and frozen earth, and evaded enemies dozens of times their number in temperatures of minus forty degrees. Heroes fell, but the flame never died. Carrying a birch-bark list densely covered with names, Jin Guoxiang went from wilderness training camps to airborne operations behind enemy lines, and finally fought his way back to Nehe in the autumn of 1945. Every gunshot on the snowfield was the unyielding cry of living beings in desperate straits. Through the growth of ordinary people, it writes grand history; through survival in desperate straits, it writes the great righteousness of home and country. — Description from novelcodex.org
