Rebirth 1983: Rise of the Industrial Group
by 瀚海钢夫
In 2026, sixty-five-year-old chief equipment engineer Chen Jianjun collapses at an inspection site. When he opens his eyes again, he is lying on a plank bed in the overhaul workshop of Hongxing County Agricultural Machinery Factory in 1983—he is twenty-two this year, a second-grade fitter, the most inconspicuous small trade in the entire factory. The factory has an overhaul task for one hundred sixty-five hand tractors from the region, and the acceptance team will arrive in three days. A 195 diesel engine that emits black smoke and shakes the test bench has blocked the assembly line for half a month; eight masters have tried in turn, and no one can fix it. The workshop director is pondering how to make his master take the blame. Chen Jianjun rolls up his sleeves: I'll take this job. While others repair one machine, he reforms a whole set of processes; while others rely on the feel of old masters, he turns feel into standards; while others think about fixing the machine, he starts thinking about how to make the entire factory run faster. This year, the central government document has just proposed invigorating rural industry and commerce, and the outlet for township enterprises is right before his eyes. Chen Jianjun knows that what he has over this era is not some black technology, but forty years of engineering cognition. — Description from novelcodex.org
