Illuminating Ashes to Eternity
by 妙手折花
Xu Zhao spent four years learning a trade at the Qingya mining workshop. His greatest wish was to graduate early so his mother would no longer have to sew clothes for others late into the night. The day the furnace exploded, he saw a cultivator block the flames for the first time—and also saw that after casting the spell, the man could barely lift a cup of water. He still wanted to learn. Later, an old lamp bought from a derelict ship revealed the residual traces of spells on objects. With its help, Xu Zhao corrected his own minor techniques, left the mining town, and boarded a merchant ship bound for distant lands. The farther he traveled, the more he realized that once-prosperous spiritual lands were declining, and mountain sects were beginning to seek new places to relocate. Some held onto their own land, while others pushed the cost onto others' doorsteps. There was still a place he wanted to return to, but he was unwilling to always wait for others to leave him a way out. — Description from novelcodex.org
