Three Men Make a Tiger: The Village Ledger
by 冰鳞宗
The whole village says Chen He's father owes money and won't pay it back. Chen He knows that if two more people say it, it becomes true. He runs a small shop at the village entrance, selling salt and matches, and he also writes down every word the villagers say, one by one. The first half of the notebook records credit debts: seven households, four hundred and thirty yuan. The second half records names: three hundred and seventeen people in the village who remember him. Relying on the saying "if three people believe it, it becomes true," he does favors for people one by one, thirty yuan each, slowly repaying the debt. The cost: every time he makes something come true, one person begins to forget him. The number in the notebook dwindles day by day. He is not afraid of repaying the debt. He is afraid that when the debt is paid off, no one will remember who paid it. — Description from novelcodex.org
