The Strange Realm Descends

If watching a horror movie or visiting a haunted house could earn you a month’s salary, would you learn to love fear? “There’s actually something this good in the world?!” One ordinary weekend, Jiang Wei receives a mysterious phone from an unknown source. To her surprise, it can convert fear into “Fear Points,” which can then be exchanged for “Gold Beans” through the phone. And so, she becomes a devoted horror-movie enthusiast, a regular visitor to every haunted house in the city, and the most beautiful paranormal livestreamer around—setting off on her journey toward the peak of life. The only thing that makes her uneasy is that the true name of the “Gold Beans” is actually “Golden Prayer Beads.” And that’s not all. The phone contains all sorts of other “products”: Talisman water, spirit money, sacrificial daggers, incense burners, holy water, peach-wood swords… “Why are these things even more expensive than the ‘Gold Beans’!?” “And, seriously, who would ever need this kind of stuff?” Not long afterward, Jiang Wei discovers that there is one thing this world has no shortage of— Fear. … The strange has descended, and the world is falling apart. Common sense is becoming increasingly distorted, while strange and uncanny things begin to grow in the shadows of bustling cities. Pale paper figures wander aimlessly through old residential buildings. A genuine leather sofa waits patiently for its next victim. A maddening advertising jingle plays over and over again. The staircase twists and winds like a digestive tract, swallowing everything in its path. And when you suddenly turn around— the reflection in the mirror is no longer your own. …… — Description from novelcodex.orgFull novel: The Strange Realm Descends — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org
